IBAN - an international standard for bank account number

Banks in Europe have jointly decided to implement an International Bank Account Number standard "IBAN" to facilitate cross-border payments and to increase security and efficiency.

The new IBAN standard will be used by PlusGirot for international payments.

Complete payment instructions for cross-border payments should therefore include both the IBAN and BIC (SWIFT address) of the beneficiary's bank.
