New security solution

e-code replaces one-time codes

In November we began to replace our existing one-time codes.

The new card reader for e-code provides a modern and flexible solution with high security and several functions. Furthermore, you always get access to an unlimited number of codes. e-codes replace the old one-time codes in following  services: Nordea’s Internet and telephone services for personal and corporate customers, ePlusGiro, Internetbanken (former ePlusGiro Corporate) and the Telephone service. Customers who today use SmartSec (card and card reader) keep the same security solution as previously.

What is the card reader used for?

You use the card reader with your MasterCard, Visa card from Nordea or a log-in card in order to.

• log on and sign for banking transactions in our Internet and telephone services
• use the Swedish eID solution e-legitimation on card (card reader + cord)
• approve card payments on the Internet (introduced later)

Services that are not affected

Services where customers only use either social security number/corporate identification number combined with a PIN code, or account number combined with an account code are not affected.

What technology is used?

The technology on which the solution is based is called CAP, Chip Authentication Programme. CAP is an international standard.
